A Plan for Living: Hospice

Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc was started in 1981 by three community nurses as a way to provide a little extra support to individuals with terminal illnesses. By 1993, Hospice began serving patients in Sullivan County and eventually became Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc.

Hospice provides a unique concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families. The goal of this nonprofit organization is not to slow down or postpone death but offer comfort and dignity to patients while they near their passing.

Employees of Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties are able to provide palliative care (care focused on relief of symptoms) in the patient’s home, hospital, nursing home, group home, or adult care facility. Specialists employed by Hospice can also provide adult grief support, individual grief counseling, and children’s grief support.

Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc and its employees are able to provide exceptional physical, emotional, and spiritual end of life care thanks to the generous donations of compassionate donors.

There are several ways that you can also become a compassionate donor. One way is to donate a dollar amount here. Another way to become a donor is through your time. Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties. Inc is always looking for volunteers who can share skills and interests with patients to enrich their quality of life. The Hospice Tree of Life was created especially for Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, and provides an opportunity for donors to permanently memorialize a honor of loved one. Each leaf on the Tree of Life in engraved with a name or special message of the donor’s choosing.
