In the Fall 2017 semester at SUNY Plattsburgh I met Kristina Moquin, the instructor of the Abnormal and Deviant Behavior course I was attending. Not only is she an adjunct instructor for the psychology program but she is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NYS and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Kristina Moquin also provides individual, couples, and group therapy at SUNY Plattsburgh. If you still don’t think she is busy enough, she also does consultations for faculty/staff, parents, and friends. I had the opportunity to ask her some questions about her career. Addiction and Friends: A Step by Step Guide on How to Help

According to Psychology Today, addiction is a condition that comes when a person ingests a substance or engages in an activity that can be pleasurable but then becomes compulsive and interrupts a person’s daily responsibilities. In 2009, according to National Institute on Drug Abuse, there were nearly 4.6 million drug-related emergency room visits nationwide. Almost half were attributed to harmful reactions to pharmaceuticals taken as prescribed, 45 percent involved drug abuse. With such a high percentage of drug use and addiction the chance you may know someone that suffers from addiction is high. These are some ways you can help that person.

Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc was started in 1981 by three community nurses as a way to provide a little extra support to individuals with terminal illnesses.
